Diverse Curriculum
At Ivy Primary Prep, we want to expose our students to the world beyond. Our curriculum is focused on academic enhancement combined with play and is designed to introduce a range of subjects. Our geography and social studies curriculum will take them around the world to explore different countries, cultures, and languages. Movement is based on the belief that there is a direct connection between physical health and a child’s ability to learn. Science is explored through our in-house plant nursery, our Little Ivies garden, while monitoring growth and survival. In our art room, we encourage creativity with personal easels. We challenge our students to grow while nurturing them to foster independence.
With a hands-on play approach, our Little Ivies work with small globe and puzzle maps to become familiar with the world. With our interactive classroom visuals, students are transported to different parts of the world to explore various cultures and history.
We focus on instilling a deep understanding of mathematics by encouraging our Little Ivies to understand concepts and patterns versus memorizing a solution.
Our Little Ivies are intrigued to learn the alphabet by playing with sensory materials such as alphabet magnets. We have a highly researched reading and writing program.
In our science curriculum, our Little Ivies are exposed to simple experiments such as measuring ingredients and making play-dough. They are also involved in activities such as planting plants, learning about our solar system, and understanding the different seasons. Our older students are introduced to zoology.
With our project-based curriculum, our preschoolers will be exposed to various historical moments that shaped this country.
As a part of our curriculum, we teach basic life skills such as zipping, buttoning, tying shoelaces, washing hands, organizing, setting the table, and saying please and thank you.
Our art classroom is designed to stimulate our Little Ivies to work with canvases and woodworking to inspire their creativity. We believe that art is critical to a student’s growth.
Our interactive movement classroom encourages preschoolers to get creative with their minds and bodies.
Focus on developing Students
At Ivy Primary we focus on development of the whole student by emphasizing a curriculum that includes physical, social, and emotional components. Our curriculum revolves around interactive learning where the students are challenged with hands-on, project-based instruction to help develop skills and intrigue their curious minds. We focus on developing skills at an early age, which can later help with their independence and self-confidence.
Our teachers evolve in becoming your children’s mentors and help them evolve from the infant and toddler phase into preschoolers. Our teachers constantly monitor their students’ learning capacity to help them achieve maximum academic success.
Teacher and Student Engagement
At Ivy Prep, we value teacher and student engagement as a crucial component of fostering an academically challenging environment. Engaged teachers create engaged and successful students. We are committed to supporting and funding continuous teacher professional development. Our teachers enjoy immense freedom and take pride in our curriculum and lesson planning. In our classrooms, teachers group students at similar skill levels and ensure preschoolers stay engaged through use of the workshop model.
Our preschoolers are intrigued to learn by engaging in reading and learning activities catered to their interests. For example, students are encouraged to choose books of interest, hence motivating them to participate in reading and writing activities. Our teachers focus on engagement methods to transform learning to a personal level, and students enjoy and react to the intimate discussion of topics and materials of interest to them. Not only does their engagement increase their academic progress, but it also sets the foundation for reading and writing.
Interactive Instruction
Ivy Prep has designed its classroom with fundamental goals in mind. Each classroom is designed to be a learning space equipped with a variety of resources for students to be intrigued and stay engaged in scientific experiments, geographical exploration, music, mathematics, language arts, dramatic play, art, and sensory activities. Ivy Prep is designed to facilitate engagement and workshop teaching methods. Researchers have linked engaging activities to improved academic test scores. As our preschoolers navigate each classroom, they are attracted to different workshops set up to get them engaged in their daily activities.
